A new look for East Bay charter schools
With 13 years under its belt, LPS was ready for a rebrand to clearly communicate their model for success in education.
Leadership Public Schools (LPS) is a network of urban charter high schools located in the East Bay. On a mission to create educational equity, they prepare students for college, career, and community leadership roles, and have scaled their practices nationally.
To better establish their name among a competitive network of charter schools, LPS asked elefint to create a brand that reflected their forward-thinking model and use of technology.
Close collaboration leads to great results
Elefint has been LPS’s design partner for 3+ years. With a deep grasp of an organization’s culture, internal resources, and goals we tailor our design solutions to meet our clients’ specific creative challenges. For LPS, we started the branding process with in-person workshops with their leadership team to develop hundreds of initial sketches. Once a direction was selected, we honed in on a single logo concept. Today, we continue to explore the possibilities of their brand through print and digital pieces.
Storytelling through photography
We’re big advocates of using original photography. Early on into our engagement with LPS, we conducted a 1-day photo shoot that led to LPS’s first library of high-resolution images. These images have since been used in both print and digital pieces and help to tell the LPS story.
Donor engagement through impact report
Most recently elefint designed and managed the printing of a high-quality tribute report that commemorated the former superintendent of schools. Dr. Water’s had served LPS for 10 years. This piece paid homage to her contributions while also shared impact numbers with donors. LPS wanted the tone to be uplifting and forward thinking and so we developed a theme around the “LPS Journey.”
Elefint patiently helped us see how essential design is to honor the people we serve and broadcast the importance of our work...they are extremely responsive and exceptionally professional; balancing responsibility and dedication with idealism and fun. We could not be more pleased with the results.Kate Levitt, PhDDirector of Communications and Development
