A new website for the LGBT community in San Francisco
Making it easier for people to connect to opportunities, LGBT resources, and each other.
Summary
With its recently renovated and iconic community center at 1800 Market Street, the SF LGBT Center needed a new digital space for visitors and current city residents to find relevant LGBTQ resources, events, and safe spaces in San Francisco. Equally important with the redesign, was creating a site that was both ADA accessible and easy for staff to update.
Our approach
We kicked off the project with the Center’s leadership team to identify pain points and goals with the website redesign. After touring their center, we created moodboards that explored ways to create an open, friendly and vibrant aesthetic through content strategy, color, and imagery. We also created a slimmed down structure for their site, eliminating the need for excess pages, and ultimately launched their new website.
The result
Their new site has all-round good vibes with a clear navigation, content structure, and pathways to their most important content. It’s now much easier to book space, find relevant programs and attend events at the Center. The modular design and accompanying website guide we created makes it easy for Center staff to add, edit and customize pages.

Love is love
We love the SF LGBT Center and its mission to serve the most marginalized and harmed people in San Francisco: LGBT youth. We’re looking forward to continuing our engagement with the Center, this time working with their youth leadership council. Stay tuned!
