Our Work

Visualizing Information for Ocean Conservancy

Project Summary

Ocean Conservation works with people around the world to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges. After a two-year research study on the effects of oil and gas development in Alaska’s North slope on wildlife habitats, environment, and indigenous communities, Ocean Conservancy tasked Elefint with creating a compelling 100-page print report and infographic on their analysis and findings. The print report was mailed to Ocean Conservancy’s major stakeholders including other environmentalists and policy makers, brought to meetings and distributed at conferences.

This project taught us a lot about the state of marine life in Alaska. We were both humbled by the depth of knowledge of Ocean Conservancy researchers and scientists, and wanted to create something special for these guys. Here’s a handful of original iconography created  for the infographic.

We repurposed a series of data-rich GIS maps provided by scientists to make them more visually appealing and aligned with the design of the rest of the report.

The infographic catered towards a general audience while supporting the promotion of their research and conservation efforts in Anchorage.
