We did it again, this time at Elefint HQ!
In the summer of 2011, our founders Gopika and Matt brainstormed what fun side projects Elefint could work on to help good causes better understand the importance of design. They wanted to give these causes a tangible deliverable, as well as a deeper understanding of cutting edge design trends, and so they created Desgn. It – a half-day event that paired 10 nonprofit organizations with 25 talented Bay Area designers. Desgn.it (for design without the I) was first held in September of 2011 at the headquarters for Architecture for Humanity. It was a great success, and the start of something cool.
This year we organized our second Desgn. It, but this time we had the pleasure of hosting it at Elefint HQ. Once again we had a humbling group of talented designers, wonderful causes and inspiring speakers. Amazing work was created in just half a day. We also got to hear about the latest trends in Interaction Design from Chris Lauritzen and Service design from Katrine Ofenstein, as well as participate in a panel discussion with Kari Jung, Director of Marketing and Communications at Full Circle Fund and the Executive Director of Dientes, Laura Marcus, on how to make the design process work within a nonprofit.
We would love to keep this tradition going, but we don’t know exactly what the next Desgn.it event will look like.
Let us know your suggestions for speakers, formats, topics, anything really, and maybe your idea will be featured in our next event! Special thanks to all the organizations, speakers, designers, sponsors, and volunteers who made this possible. Check out the photos
